Cardiac resuscitation and neurologic tolerance to anoxia.

چکیده
Complete inflow stiisis of the heart was associated with less central nervous system damage, if the heart was resuscitated with massage. Ventricular fibrillation did not occur during the period of circulatory arrest, but it was seen occasionally after the heart filled. Its incidence was increased by the use of Adrenalin and by allowing the heart to recover without massage. The administration of various doses of heparin had no effect on the degree of brain damage resulting from interruption of the circulation.

A Study of Cerebral Performance Categories Based on Initial Rhythm and Resuscitation Time Following In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest in a State Hospital in Turkey
Background: The cerebral performance category (CPC) score is widely used in research and quality assurance to assess neurologic outcome following cardiac arrest. However, little is known about the results of the CPC in Turkey. Objective: This study aimed to determine whether the CPC is associated with the initial rhythm and resuscitation time following re...
متن کاملManaging the post-resuscitation patient in the field.
The principal goal after successful resuscitation of a cardiac arrest patient is to maintain the patient's pulse and avoid a pulseless state. Of equal importance in the post-resuscitation patient are efforts to prevent myocardial dysfunction and increase the likelihood of a good neurologic outcome. To optimize cardiac and hemodynamic resuscitation, paramedics should obtain good background infor...
متن کاملValidation of 3 termination of resuscitation criteria for good neurologic survival after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.
STUDY OBJECTIVE Several termination of resuscitation criteria have been proposed to identify patients who will not survive to hospital discharge after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. However, only 1 set has been derived to specifically predict survival to hospital discharge with good neurologic function. The objectives of this study were to externally validate the basic life support (BLS) termi...
متن کاملIbuprofen improves survival and neurologic outcome after resuscitation from cardiac arrest.
Post-ischemic inflammatory changes in the central nervous system (CNS) following cardiac arrest and resuscitation are potentially responsible for ultimate survival and much of the neurologic damage, producing greater morbidity and mortality in successfully resuscitated patients. This study was undertaken to assess the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, ibuprofen, in a controlled and monitor...
متن کاملManagement of brain injury after resuscitation from cardiac arrest.
The devastating neurologic injury in survivors of cardiac arrest has been recognized since the development of modern resuscitation techniques. After numerous failed clinical trials, two trials showed that induced mild hypothermia can ameliorate brain injury and improve survival and functional neurologic outcome in comatose survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This article provides a com...
